Formation & Evangelization

CHILDREN'S (3K-5TH)

Children have a tremendous capacity for personal relationship with God, more than we often give them credit for. We offer a weekly formation program on Sundays to help facilitate the child's encounter with God and to give them the tools and the knowledge to continue to grow in relationship with Him throughout their lives. A key point in this formation is the preparation for and reception of the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion, which typically (though not always) happens in the 2nd Grade.

We offer traditional classroom sessions using the Faith and Life textbook for Grades 1, 3, 4, and 5. The 2nd Grade classroom is focused specifically on preparing for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion.

We also offer Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for 3K-5th Grade. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is an incarnational, heart-engaging way of forming children in the Catholic Faith, utilizing the Montessori method of education. Taking the most profound truths of our Liturgy and Scripture, and pairing them with materials that make Catholic truths real and hands-on, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd creates a holy space where the children can learn and grow closer to Jesus and the saints—not through worksheets and books, but truly experiencing God in each prayerful, joyful meeting.

CGS Level 1: Designed for children ages 3-6 and based on the developmental needs of that stage of childhood, CGS Level 1 offers some of the most simple and profound truths of our faith to our very young children. Catechists have found that children of this age have a tremendous capacity to love and be loved and that, when offered the gentle and specific guidance of the Atrium, are able to form a deep and personal relationship with God, who they particularly relate to as the Good Shepherd.

CGS Level 2: Designed for children ages 6-9 and based on the developmental needs of that stage of childhood, CGS Level 2 helps children to prepare for and continue to enter more deeply into the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion. Jesus as the True Vine, to whom we are all connected as branches, becomes a touchstone at this age, matching their developmental needs for social and moral development.

CGS Level 3: Designed for children ages 9-12 and based on the developmental needs of that stage of childhood, CGS Level 3 draws children more deeply into the big picture of God's work in the universe and gives them space to dive more deeply into the details of what that means. They explore in greater depth the history of the Kingdom of God as well as what their unique place is in the plan of God.

SPECIAL NEEDS

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) method lends itself remarkably well to children with special needs. Already designed to be hands-on and to move at the pace of the child, an atrium is a natural place for a child with special needs to receive catechesis.

Our catechesis for children with special needs offers a community for kids with special needs to nurture and grow in their faith life, individualized lessons created to meet each child’s unique abilities and interests, volunteer helpers to assist each child during class, hands-on and visually rich materials to teach the faith, and opportunities to pray and be with Jesus in the adoration chapel.

YOUNG ADULT (20'S & 30'S)

Our Young Adult Ministry exists in order to inspire young adults from the ages of 18 to 39 to become disciples of Jesus Christ. We desire to create an atmosphere where these young adults can form true authentic friendships based on a desire to better know and love Jesus.
